一般工廠內的升降貨梯,，所用的馬達多數(shù)是交流三相感應型的，無論是鼠籠型或者滑圈型的都可,。為了要有較高的起動轉矩,，馬達的馬力，常比實際需要的馬力,，約大三分之一左右,，鼠籠型馬達，多用于低速,，而滑圈型馬達,，則用于速度較高的升降貨梯。 又有一種變速的交流感應馬達,，是在同一定子槽內,，埋放二套線圈這樣可以得到二種速率。在起動時,，用高速線圈,；需要減速時，可趁高速線圈仍接于電源時，將低速線圈亦接于電源,，然后關斷高速線圈,，將低速線圈的電阻，加以短接,。這種變速的手續(xù),，亦可由定時繼電器來完成。
